According to Cleveland 19 News, the Elyria Police Department said the school resource officer received the information around 12:30 p.m., then searched the building and located the student in the gym. Police told the outlet the student ran when the officer approached, but responding officers quickly apprehended the student. The department said it opened a criminal investigation and that patrol officers and detectives remained on scene to follow up.
