A normally quiet stretch of northwest Puyallup turned into an active crime scene Thursday after a shooting left two people dead and a third wounded, according to police. Officers rushed to the area of 31st Street Northwest and 13th Avenue Court Northwest, quickly shutting down a couple of blocks while investigators combed the street for evidence. Authorities said the victims appear to be related, and one person was taken to a hospital for treatment.
According to The News Tribune, Puyallup officers found three victims when they arrived and are treating the case as a homicide investigation. Capt. Kevin Gill told the paper that two victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while the third was transported to a hospital for care.
Police: no ongoing threat
The Puyallup Police Department said on X that there is no outstanding threat to the broader community, but urged people to steer clear of the immediate area while officers work. Investigators stayed on scene into the evening as detectives documented and processed the area around the shooting.

Detectives are handling the case as a homicide and have closed 31st Street Northwest for about two blocks, along with the intersection at 13th Avenue Court Northwest, while they gather evidence, according to The News Tribune. Police are asking any witnesses, or anyone who may have video from the area, to contact the department as the investigation continues.
