Sheriff Vincent was back in Floral City tomorrow, not for a routine call but to oversee a structure fire scene that the sheriff's office now says is an active homicide investigation. Deputies say the suspect is still on the run, and authorities have released his name and description as they ask the public to help track him down. Anyone with information is urged to call 352-249-2790.
In a Facebook reel posted Wednesday afternoon, the Citrus County Sheriff's Office said Sheriff Vincent and deputies were responding to the Floral City scene after the blaze was upgraded to a homicide investigation. The post identified 37-year-old Michael William Larsen as a suspect and included video with detailed descriptions of Larsen and the vehicle investigators believe he is using.
Suspect still on the loose and tip line open
Larsen remains at large, and deputies have not released any additional information about possible victims or a suspected motive. Officials are asking anyone who recognizes Larsen or the vehicle shown in the video to call the sheriff's tip line at 352-249-2790.
Local fire history adds to community concern
Floral City has already had its share of serious fire incidents, including a mobile home fire that destroyed a residence in October 2025. Floral City mobile home destroyed reported on that earlier blaze and the county's push for fire safety, including working smoke alarms and electrical precautions.
Detectives comb scene as homicide probe unfolds
Detectives and crime scene personnel remained at the location to process evidence while the investigation continues. The sheriff's office has not yet released further details, and this story will be updated as officials share more information.
