Department Alert
In a Facebook post from the Framingham Fire Department, officials said, "FFD is on scene at a working fire at 185 Irving Street" and asked people to "avoid the area and find alternate routes" while units operated in the neighborhood. The post served as the first public heads up while crews focused on securing the building and putting out visible flames.
Irving Street And Recent Fires
Irving Street has been on firefighters' radar lately. In December, the city reported a second-alarm fire at 75 Irving Street that drew a major response and sent one resident to the hospital, according to the City of Framingham. More recently, on April 23, Framingham crews battled a two-alarm fire on Highland Street that displaced seven people and hospitalized one, as reported by Boston 25 News.
What Residents Should Do
Officials urged residents to stick with official channels for updates, including the Framingham Fire Department's social media feeds and the city's notification tools. If you live or work near Irving Street, the department said you should be ready for road closures, follow detours and listen to directions from police and fire personnel on scene, as outlined in the department's Facebook alert.
