Authorities say a Glen Rose mother is at the center of a disturbing medical abuse investigation after she allegedly misled doctors about her 3-year-old son's health, leading to painful and unnecessary treatments at North Texas children's hospitals.
What Investigators Say Happened
Investigators identified the suspect as 31-year-old Kaitlyn Rose Laura of Glen Rose. According to court records, she was booked into the Tarrant County Jail last Wednesday and faces charges of serious bodily injury to a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Detectives allege Laura repeatedly misrepresented her toddler's medical history to physicians at Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth and at Children's Medical Center Dallas.
Detectives also say they found at least three GoFundMe pages tied to fundraising efforts for the child's care. The Tarrant County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who donated or who texted with Laura about the child's condition to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 817-884-1305, as reported by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
