
A quiet stretch off Turnersburg Highway near Statesville turned into a crime scene Friday evening after deputies discovered a decomposed body in a wooded area, sparking a full-scale death investigation.
Investigation Under Way
According to WBTV, Iredell County deputies found the remains at about 6:30 p.m. yesterday, and quickly classified the location as a death investigation scene. Crime scene teams were brought in to process the area Friday night, though officials did not say how the remains were first discovered.
Officials Release Few Details
As reported by WCNC, investigators have not released the person’s identity or indicated how long the body may have been in the woods. The remains were described as decomposed, and authorities say the inquiry is active, with more information expected as the case develops.
