Late-night shoppers at a Hickory Hill S Mart hit the floor Tuesday when four people stormed in at gunpoint, a newly released surveillance video from Memphis police shows. The brief holdup unfolded around 10:45 p.m. at the market on East Raines Road near Kirby Parkway. Police say two of the suspects were armed and that all four left on foot without taking any merchandise.
According to FOX13 Memphis, the footage shows four people walking into the S Mart as one suspect points a handgun at the clerk and demands "everything," while another stands watch. A witness on the video can be heard yelling, "They're coming, J," as the suspects enter, the outlet reports. Police told FOX13 the group ran off after the confrontation and that no injuries were reported.
Hickory Hill Has Seen Recent Late-Night Violence
The holdup lands on top of a string of armed incidents in the area, including a March 25 shooting at a nearby Exxon that left a driver wounded, bullets rip through Hickory Hill Exxon previously reported. That reporting noted that surveillance footage and follow-up investigations were key in earlier cases, prompting renewed calls for patrols at late-night gas pumps and corner stores. The pattern of incidents has put added pressure on law enforcement and local business owners to shore up safety measures.
Police Seek Tips
Memphis police are asking anyone who recognizes the suspects or who may have video of the incident to contact CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH, FOX13 Memphis reports. Investigators said tips and additional footage could aid identification, and they urged people not to confront suspected offenders directly. No arrests have been announced in the case so far.
The police-released video serves as a fresh reminder of the risks faced by late-night businesses in Hickory Hill. Officers say the investigation remains active and that they will review any leads provided by the public.
