
Early Sunday morning, Harris County Precinct 4 deputies rushed to an apartment complex on Kuykendahl Road near W. Rankin and found two adult women with gunshot wounds. Both were taken to nearby hospitals. One woman was later pronounced dead and the other was listed in fair condition as investigators worked the scene.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez wrote on X that Precinct 4 deputies responded to a complex at 12655 Kuykendahl near W. Rankin and that Harris County Sheriff’s Office crime scene and homicide detectives were on site. Officials have not released the victims' names or said whether any arrests have been made.

The address, 12655 Kuykendahl Road, is the Augusta North apartment complex. That property has drawn serious law enforcement attention before. Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators remained at the complex Sunday as deputies canvassed for witnesses. Authorities say the investigation is active and no motive has been released.
