Gunfire broke out Thursday near 59th Avenue and Maryland Avenue in Glendale, leaving two men wounded and sending them to area hospitals, according to police. Authorities told local media both victims are expected to survive.
The Glendale Police Department said it has opened an investigation and has not released any information about a possible suspect.
As reported by FOX 10 Phoenix, the shooting happened on April 30, and reporter Annalisa Pardo captured video from the scene. The station quoted Glendale police reiterating that the two men are expected to pull through.
Recent Incidents Along 59th Avenue
The shooting is the latest in a series of violent incidents along Glendale’s 59th Avenue corridor this month. Earlier in April, a domestic fight ends in gunfire case near 59th Avenue and Camelback Road left a man critically injured, and a separate man found dead incident near 59th Avenue and Missouri Avenue involved predawn gunfire.
Local residents and news outlets have voiced growing concern as detectives continue trying to piece together what happened on Thursday and whether the recent cases point to a troubling trend along the corridor.
How to Help Investigators
Anyone with information or video related to the shooting is asked to call the Glendale Police Department’s non-emergency number at (623) 930-3000, according to the department.
