A Hollywood neighborhood turned into a crime scene late Wednesday when a man was found dead in the roadway in the 7300 block of Owens Court, near Farragut Street. Neighbors said the body was lying next to a silver car, and several residents reported hearing what sounded like gunshots just before the discovery. Crime scene personnel were seen documenting the area, and the Medical Examiner's Office removed the body in the early hours of Thursday as detectives continued their work.
What Authorities Found
According to WSVN, Hollywood Police and Fire Rescue units responded to the 7300 block of Owens Court on Wednesday night following calls about possible gunfire. Cameras captured a heavy police presence stretching into the surrounding blocks near Farragut Street, off Northwest 74th Street, with investigators combing the roadway while officers secured the area.
Neighbors' Accounts
Neighbors told WSVN they heard several sharp bangs and initially brushed them off as holiday-style noise. “We thought it was fireworks at first,” resident Mahi Hossain said. That assumption evaporated when neighbors realized a body was lying in the street, leaving many in the normally quiet residential community shaken and on edge.
Scene And Investigation
A crew from Local 10 reported that what appeared to be the body of a man was next to a silver car in the roadway as officers documented the scene and investigators took photographs. Local 10 also noted that the Medical Examiner's Office removed the body early Thursday morning. Authorities have not publicly released the victim's identity or the cause of death, and detectives are still processing the scene. No arrests have been announced.
