A Spring ISD theater arts teacher is facing felony and misdemeanor evading charges after a late-night police chase that started in downtown Houston and ended at his southeast Houston home, according to court records. Neighbors described a chaotic scene as the man, identified as 32-year-old Tyler Canada, ran from officers while partly unclothed before being taken into custody.
Downtown pursuit and charges
Houston police say the pursuit kicked off near the theater district, where officers allege a driver in a speeding vehicle blew past them on Milam Street, swerved through traffic, ran red lights and at one point drove the wrong way on Main Street before leaving downtown. Investigators say the car continued for roughly 15 miles to a residence in southeast Houston, where officers later found the vehicle parked in the driveway and contacted the occupant inside. Canada is charged with felony and misdemeanor evading arrest and was released following the late-night incident, according to ABC13 Houston.
Neighbor video shows chaotic arrest
Part of what happened next was caught on a neighbor's security camera. The footage includes faint audio of someone yelling "Why are you here?" and "mom, mom" as a man runs past the camera. Police say Canada resisted officers and that they used a taser to subdue him. Family members told reporters that his collarbone was fractured during the arrest, and he appeared in court the following day with his arm in a sling, per ABC13 Houston.

Court documents list Claughton Middle School as Canada's employer, and the campus staff page identifies him as a theater arts teacher. Claughton Middle School lists Tyler Canada on its staff roster, and his legal case remains pending in court.
