A late-night collision between a motorcycle and a car has claimed the life of a 69-year-old Williamsburg man after a violent crash at a rural Butler County intersection.
The wreck happened just after 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, at Hamilton Richmond Road and Beissinger Road in Hanover Township. Emergency crews swarmed the scene, shutting down the roadway as deputies and medics worked in the dark to treat the injured. One person was airlifted to the hospital by medical helicopter, while another was evaluated and released at the scene.
The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as David Harris, 69, of Williamsburg, and said he died at UC Medical Center, according to WLWT. Officials have not yet disclosed what they believe triggered the collision or which vehicle may have entered the intersection first.
Where It Happened And Local Context
The crash unfolded on a rural stretch of Hamilton-Richmond Road that locals know can turn dangerous fast. The two-lane route has seen serious wrecks in recent years, particularly involving motorcycles on higher speed sections of Butler County roads.
Other deadly motorcycle crashes in the county have highlighted the hazards riders face on these kinds of state routes. For example, a fatal March 2025 collision on State Route 422 was cited by safety advocates as another reminder of how little protection motorcyclists have in a crash. Riders and advocates often point to nighttime visibility, speed and the sheer exposure of being on two wheels as recurring factors when these incidents turn deadly.
Investigation And How To Help
The Butler County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what led up to Tuesday night’s crash. Deputies are working to piece together the sequence of events at the intersection and have not released further details about the vehicles involved or any potential contributing factors.
Anyone who may have seen the collision or has information that could help the investigation is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (513) 785-1300 or submit a tip online through the department’s contact page at the Butler County Sheriff’s Office. The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office, which identified the victim, is expected to release additional findings after its review.
