Wawa is cranking up its Indiana expansion, confirming plans to open three more stores this summer in Lafayette, Anderson and Muncie. The new locations mark the latest wave in the chain’s fast-growing Hoosier rollout after its first Indiana shop opened in 2025.
According to a company statement cited by WISH‑TV, the Lafayette, Anderson and Muncie stores are all on track for summer debuts. To celebrate the anniversary of its Daleville opening, Wawa also plans to offer Indiana customers one free any-size hot coffee.
An Indianapolis Star roundup of the company’s Midwest push likewise flags Anderson, Lafayette and Muncie as part of this year’s buildout. The Star notes that Wawa has already opened several Indiana locations since May 2025 and has more projects currently under construction around the state.
In an April 2025 press release, Wawa outlined a plan to open up to 10 Indiana stores that year, then ramp up to roughly 8 to 12 new locations annually, with an early goal of around 60 stores statewide. The company said it typically invests about $7.5 million into each site and expects to staff roughly 35 associates per store.
Local Impact And Grand-Opening Culture
Wawa’s grand openings are not exactly quiet affairs. Long lines, giveaways and community tie-ins have become part of the package, and coverage of the Daleville launch highlighted ribbon-cuttings and preview events. Daleville ribbon-cutting coverage also noted that the company used its debut to spotlight local hiring and support charity partners.
What To Watch Next
Company projections shared with WISH‑TV suggest Wawa could build eight to 13 Indiana stores each year over the next five to eight years, with a long-term aim of more than 70 locations across the state. If that pace holds, Hoosiers can expect a steady stream of construction signs, new job postings and the now-familiar grand-opening spectacle that has followed the chain through its Midwest expansion.
