A written threat found inside a Hudson church sent worship staff and neighbors scrambling Tuesday morning, as law enforcement evacuated the building, swept the grounds, and ultimately detained a suspect. The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office and Hudson Police locked down the area, urged nearby residents to stay away, and later declared there was no ongoing danger to the public.
How the threat unfolded
Staff at Faith Community Church told police they discovered a written threat in the building and immediately alerted authorities, according to KSTP. Responding officers from the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office and Hudson Police Department set up a security perimeter and called for anyone within roughly 800 yards of the church to evacuate and avoid the area while they searched.
Search wraps, suspect detained
After the sweep, the sheriff’s office announced that the scene had been cleared and that a person had been taken into custody. Roads in the area reopened, and investigators determined there was no credible threat to the church building, FOX 9 reported. Hudson Police said additional details would be released as the investigation continued.
Schools play it safe
The Hudson School District said none of its schools fell inside the evacuation zone, but a district spokesperson told reporters that staff kept students indoors and moved recess inside until officers cleared the situation, according to KSTP. Local organizers and officials also urged residents to steer clear of the area while law enforcement worked the scene.
Church response and location
Faith Community Church lists its address as 777 Carmichael Road in Hudson on the church’s website, and church leaders wrote on social media that the building was evacuated to prioritize safety for everyone on-site, Faith Community Church and local outlets reported. Officers asked anyone who might have information about the threat to contact Hudson Police or the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say the investigation remains active and are urging anyone with tips to come forward. More information is expected once the Hudson Police Department issues an official update, according to MPR News.
