After about a year behind construction fencing and roughly $11 million in upgrades, Fritz Park is set to reopen in May with a serious glow-up. The downtown Hutto staple is coming back with a larger splash pad, new playground areas, upgraded restrooms and a fresh pump track that city officials hope will turn quiet weekends into full-blown park days.
What’s New At Fritz Park
According to Community Impact, the renovation package includes an expanded splash pad, updated playground equipment, new walking trails and an "all-wheels" pump track designed for bikes and skaters looking for a little more adrenaline with their park visit. The work also brings improved parking and modern restrooms that are built to handle heavier crowds once the temperatures spike.
How The Project Came Together
The renovation is part of the city’s capital improvement plan and is funded through voter approved bond dollars, according to the City of Hutto. Coverage of the project’s groundbreaking highlighted the roughly $11 million price tag and spotlighted the contractor and design team leading construction, Taylor Press reported.
Officials Expect A Busy Season
City leaders say the upgrades will bump up day to day operational needs, even as some of the new features are expected to trim long term maintenance costs. As Community Impact reported, Parks Director Jeff White has called Fritz Park "our flagship park," noted that the project reuses an existing well to irrigate a new pond and cautioned that the city could see more than 100,000 visitors during the remainder of 2026.
When To Go And Where To Park
The city says Fritz Park is scheduled to reopen in May, and visitors should plan for limited parking at first while everyone rushes back to check out the upgrades. For current hours, rules and updates, visit the Fritz Park page on the City of Hutto website or contact the Parks and Recreation Department. The park sits at 400 Park Street in downtown Hutto.
