Naperville’s dessert game is getting an international upgrade, as Dumont Creamery & Cafe prepares to roll out its first Illinois scoop shop inside the new Block 59 dining district along Route 59. The spot is expected to serve ice cream scoops, milkshakes, bubble tea and coffee in a family-friendly setting that franchise owners say fits right into the city’s busy, restaurant-packed corridor.

Dumont’s local franchise will be co-owned by Vamsi Manne, who told What Now that the team "got lucky" when a parking-lot space opened up at Block 59. Manne is partnering with co-franchisee Sai Uppalapati on the Naperville shop, and the pair have been scouting the city since they first heard about the large-scale Block 59 redevelopment.

In an email to NCTV17, the owners described Dumont as built around "flavor, freshness, and fun" and said Naperville’s atmosphere made it an ideal landing spot for their first Illinois store. NCTV17 reports the Block 59 location is expected to open in mid-to-late July and notes that Dumont’s U.S. footprint so far has been concentrated in Texas.

Dumont dates back to a 1999 founding in Hyderabad, India, and has since grown into a global brand that blends Indian dessert traditions with more familiar ice-cream styles, according to Dumont. The chain lists multiple U.S. locations and spotlights a rotating lineup of globally inspired flavors alongside classics, including mint chocolate chip, festive cake, filter coffee and butterscotch.

Block 59 Is Becoming A Dining Destination

The Naperville shop will sit inside Block 59, a $53 million redevelopment of the Westridge Court shopping center that is pitching itself as a dining and entertainment hub along Route 59, according to Brixmor. Signed tenants include national heavy hitters such as The Cheesecake Factory, Yard House, Shake Shack, Ruth’s Chris and First Watch, so Dumont will have no shortage of potential post-dinner traffic.

Franchise owners say they are planning a one-stop cafe model, with scoops, sips and brews meant to work for kids and parents as well as students and nearby office workers. Per NCTV17, the Naperville Dumont will offer milkshakes, bubble tea, cakes and coffees alongside its ice-cream menu, and the owners said the city’s family-oriented community and strong cafe culture were big reasons they chose the area.

Manne and Uppalapati told What Now they expect to share more specifics on opening timelines and leasing as build-out continues. For now, Dumont’s arrival adds another internationally flavored option to Block 59’s growing roster as the center completes its shift into a regional dining destination.
