Slidell is getting a serious taste of Jamaica. A new restaurant and event space called Kingston Cravinz is on the way, promising authentic island dishes, a full bar and ticketed concerts under one very large roof.

Owner Kim Harris says the roughly 7,000-square-foot venue will blend dining, drinks and live performances, with a tentative early-summer opening while renovations continue. Harris, who also runs local smoothie spot Liquid Gardens, says Kingston Cravinz is meant as a tribute to her Jamaican roots.

In an interview with What Now New Orleans, Harris put it simply: "We have roots in Jamaica, and we cook the food." She described the concept as a personal homage and declined to give an exact location while construction is still underway.

Menu and Music

According to What Now New Orleans, the menu will spotlight jerk chicken, oxtails and other Jamaican favorites, with the space set to regularly host major musical acts. Harris also told the outlet that Liquid Gardens serves cold-pressed juices and handcrafted coffee, and that she imports fruits from Jamaica for the shop's drinks.

Why Slidell?

Olde Towne Slidell has been soaking up more attention lately, with the downtown used as a Netflix filming location in March. The holiday rom-com shoot brought extra visibility to local storefronts and restaurants, according to Netflix turns Olde Towne into a Christmas rom-com set. That rising profile could make the Northshore a natural fit for a larger dining-and-music venue like Kingston Cravinz.

For now, details stay on the lean side while Harris finishes the buildout. The early-summer target remains tentative, and the team has not yet announced ticketing information or the exact address. More specifics are expected as opening day gets closer.
