
A stretch of Rusty Ridge Lane in the Katy area turned into an active crime scene Thursday afternoon after deputies found a woman shot in the street in the 6700 block, authorities said. A man believed to be the shooter remained at the scene as law enforcement moved in, according to officials.
Crime-scene investigators and Harris County homicide detectives were called to the neighborhood and were processing the area for evidence. Officials had not released the victim’s name or condition and said the investigation remained active.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez posted on X that deputies responded to the 6700 block of Rusty Ridge Lane and that “a woman was found shot in the street.” He added that “a man, the alleged shooter, remained on scene” and that CSI and homicide detectives were responding.
