Kingston police are digging into a TikTok video that appears to show a Silver Lake Regional School District staff member in a sexualized online exchange with someone claiming to be 15 years old, a clip that first landed on officers’ radar Thursday evening, according to NBC10 Boston. District officials say the staffer is no longer employed by Silver Lake and is barred from school property, a move Superintendent Jill Proulx shared with families, as reported by Boston 25 News. The situation has left Kingston parents and school staff demanding answers while investigators sift through the social media trail.
"Given the disturbing nature of these allegations, we understand the concern from parents," Kingston police said, noting that sharing more specifics right now could get in the way of the investigation, according to NBC10 Boston. The department also told the station that, so far, there is no evidence any Silver Lake students received inappropriate communication, and officers urged anyone with information to reach out to School Resource Officer Matthew Donovan.
District response
Superintendent Dr. Jill Proulx told families the district is working with Kingston police and that "this individual will no longer be employed by Silver Lake," Boston 25 News reported. District leaders reiterated that student safety remains their top priority while law enforcement reviews the TikTok and related online material.
Who investigators want to hear from
The Silver Lake Regional School District outlines the duties of its school resource officer and lists Officer Matthew Donovan as the SRO assigned to both the middle school and the high school, according to the Silver Lake Regional School District website. The site also lists the middle school at 256 Pembroke Street and the central office at 250 Pembroke Street, along with phone numbers families can use to reach district administrators.
Statewide context
The Kingston case is unfolding as Massachusetts faces broader scrutiny over how allegations involving school employees are tracked and reported. Reporting by 25 Investigates identified dozens of cases across the state and highlighted gaps in record keeping and licensure actions that lawmakers are still trying to fix.
Kingston police say their investigation is ongoing and have not announced any arrests or charges. They again asked that anyone with tips contact SRO Matthew Donovan, according to NBC10 Boston. Families with concerns can also call the Silver Lake district office or the middle school main office using the numbers listed on the district website. Both police and school officials say they will share updates as the inquiry moves forward.
