A 51-year-old Lake Oswego man is behind bars after a grand jury handed up an indictment that capped what authorities describe as a year-long sex crimes investigation.
Jason Bowen was taken into custody Wednesday night on three counts of first-degree sodomy and is being held in the Clackamas County Jail. Detectives say the case has been under active investigation since March 2025, involving extensive follow-up and interviews, and that more details will be released once the case is fully wrapped, according to KATU.
Grand Jury Records And Alleged Victim
Court documents reviewed by Gray station WDBJ7 show that the grand jury indictment involves a child. The outlet reports that the filing includes multiple felony counts and follows months of investigative work before the panel returned its decision.
Local reporting has not provided any identifying information about the alleged victim.
What The Charges Mean Under Oregon Law
Under Oregon law, “sodomy in the first degree” covers situations where a victim is subjected to forcible compulsion, is under 12, is under 16 and a close relative, or is legally incapable of consenting. The crime is classified as a Class A felony, according to the Oregon Legislature.
Certain sex offenses in Oregon also trigger mandatory minimum prison terms. State statute lists mandatory minimums that in some circumstances can reach 300 months, or 25 years, depending on the age of the victim and other factors, according to Justia.
What Happens Next
For now, Bowen remains lodged in the Clackamas County Jail while the indictment moves through the court system. Officials told KATU they plan to release further information once the investigation is complete.
Upcoming filings in Clackamas County Circuit Court are expected to spell out Bowen’s arraignment date and the next procedural steps in the case.
