What police say
According to MyTexasDaily, officers were called to 2401 Westridge Street at about 11:50 a.m., where they found a 35-year-old man suffering from a stab wound in the apartment complex parking lot. He was taken to a local hospital and later died. Investigators later tracked down the suspect's vehicle and took 30-year-old Lisa Venglar into custody. The Houston Police Department identified detectives E. May and C. Sharp as leading the investigation, and the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is working to confirm the victim's identity. Prosecutors have moved the case into the 495th Criminal District Court.
So far, investigators have not publicly released a possible motive for the stabbing. Neighbors and potential witnesses in the Westridge area have not been quoted in media reports, and authorities have not said whether the suspect and victim knew each other.
What's next
Venglar was booked into the Harris County Jail and formally charged with murder in the 495th Criminal District Court, according to MyTexasDaily. The 495th Judicial District is one of Harris County's criminal district courts and gives preference to criminal cases, per the Texas Legislature. At this early stage, prosecutors have not announced arraignment or bond details, and Venglar remains presumed innocent until proven guilty.
