
A late-night shootout on a South Side block of Auburn Gresham left a 44-year-old man dead on Wednesday, according to Chicago police. Officers were called to the 8700 block of South Union Avenue around 9:16 p.m., where they found the man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Christ Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
According to FOX 32 Chicago, the man had been sitting in a vehicle when two unidentified men walked up, and an argument broke out, ending in an exchange of gunfire. The victim was shot in the eye and multiple times in the arm. Chicago Fire Department medics treated him at the scene before transporting him to the hospital. The two suspects ran off. As of the latest update, no arrests have been reported.
Police response
Per ABC7 Chicago, CPD's Area Two detectives are leading the investigation. Authorities are asking anyone with information or surveillance footage to call Area Two at (312) 747-8273 or submit an anonymous tip at CPDTIP.com. Police have not yet released the victim's name or a possible motive as detectives continue to process the scene.

The killing adds to a string of recent violent incidents troubling the Auburn Gresham corridor.
