A 56-year-old man was killed late Thursday night on the 2800 block of West Cold Spring Lane in North Baltimore, adding another deadly chapter to a corridor neighbors say has seen far too much gunfire this year.
According to Baltimore Witness, Northern District patrol officers were called to the 2800 block of West Cold Spring Lane at about 11:39 p.m., where they found the 56-year-old suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Medics rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
In a media advisory, the Baltimore Police Department said homicide detectives have opened an investigation and are asking anyone with information to call 410-396-2100 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
The overnight killing closely tracks the initial timeline reported by Baltimore Witness, which noted the victim’s age and the Northern District response as detectives began working the case.
Cold Spring Lane's recent shootings
West Cold Spring Lane has seen several shootings this year, including a March incident in which a juvenile was shot inside a Medfield home, as covered in a Medfield home shooting on Old Cold Spring Lane. Local reporting and police advisories show Northern District officers repeatedly responding to violent calls along this stretch, a pattern that has residents and community leaders on edge.
Baltimore homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the latest killing. Anyone with information is urged to contact Northern District detectives at 410-396-2100 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP. Police say additional details will be released as they develop the case.
