A late-night gathering in Pleasant Grove turned deadly today when a man was found shot to death in the parking lot of an event center in southeast Dallas.
Dallas police were called around 2:30 a.m. to the 1900 block of South Buckner Boulevard, where officers found a man with gunshot wounds lying near a vehicle. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Witnesses told investigators they heard a disturbance, then gunfire, and saw a man dressed in what appeared to be a security uniform leave the area right after the shots rang out.
Investigators Work the Scene for Clues
Homicide detectives and crime-scene technicians spent the early morning combing through the parking lot, documenting evidence and marking items near the vehicle where the victim was discovered. Investigators found several shell casings in the area, according to FOX 4.
Officers set up a crime-scene perimeter and went door to door at nearby businesses, looking for surveillance video that might show the disturbance, the shooting, or the man seen wearing the apparent security gear. Police interviewed witnesses at the scene, but authorities have not yet released the victim’s name, and no arrests had been announced as of Sunday.

This killing is the latest in a series of violent incidents that have rattled the Pleasant Grove community. The Dallas Morning News previously reported a fatal shooting in the area in July 2025, as neighbors and police continue to raise alarms about late-night trouble along stretches of Buckner Boulevard.
City officials and local community groups have repeatedly flagged activity along the busy corridor as a serious safety concern for southeast Dallas, pointing to a pattern of overnight violence that keeps residents on edge.

Detectives are reviewing any available surveillance footage and continuing to question witnesses, FOX 4 reported. Investigators say a disturbance came just before the gunfire, and they are following multiple leads as they work to identify a suspect.
