Houston police on Tuesday released surveillance photos of two suspects and a car tied to the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Makeyon Dean. Dean was found unresponsive near a vehicle after an altercation in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Thursday and was pronounced dead at the scene at 7526 Martin Luther King Boulevard.
Photos and vehicle details released
Local reporting first picked up the case, and MyTexasDaily noted that investigators say the shooting followed an argument in the complex's parking lot and that Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The City of Houston newsroom posted surveillance images that describe the suspects as two Black males and say the suspect vehicle is believed to be a 2012–2014 silver Honda Accord.
Scene has a history
The stretch of Martin Luther King Boulevard where the complex stands has seen violent incidents in past years, a pattern local reporters and residents have raised concerns about. The Houston Chronicle previously reported a fatal shooting at the Norma Plaza Apartments at the same address, a reminder of recurring safety issues on that corridor.
How to help
The Houston Police Department is asking anyone with information, surveillance video or tips to contact the Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. No arrests have been announced, and detectives say they will continue to review video and leads as the investigation proceeds.
