Sirens cut through the quiet near Delridge and SW Willow as Seattle Police and a King County Sheriff’s Office K-9 team swept the area after two people inside a residence reported coming face to face with an intruder.
The only description released so far is of a Black man in his 20s, dressed in all black with a white bandanna covering much of his face.
According to West Seattle Blog, the search began after two residents told officers they had encountered an intruder inside their home. The outlet reported that police warned the suspect might be armed and noted that both Seattle Police and a King County Sheriff’s Office K-9 team were involved in the response.
How police want residents to respond
Seattle Police are asking anyone who sees the person matching that description to call 911 and not to confront them. For non-emergency tips or to file a report, officials direct residents to the City of Seattle guidance on how to report a crime, which includes the Seattle Police Department non-emergency number and online reporting options.
What neighbors heard
West Seattle Blog reported that the bursts of sirens and public-address announcements in the neighborhood were tied to the K-9 search, and that officers made routine K-9 deployment announcements while canvassing the area. As of that update, there was no word of any arrests or of whether a weapon had been recovered.
Police are asking anyone with information about the incident or the suspect to contact the Seattle Police Department’s Violent Crimes tip line at (206) 233-5000 or the non-emergency line at (206) 625-5011, and to call 911 if they believe there is an immediate threat. Investigators encourage witnesses to share video or descriptions with detectives to support the search.
