One Mesquite convenience store just became the unlikeliest launchpad for a multimillionaire. A Quick Pick bought at a neighborhood 7‑Eleven in Mesquite matched all six Lotto Texas numbers last night, landing an estimated $41 million jackpot. The ticket lists the Cash Value Option, which brings the haul down to about $22.5 million before taxes. The winner has not yet stepped forward and has 180 days from the draw date to claim the prize. Once the sale is validated, the Mesquite store that sold the ticket will also be in line for a retailer bonus.
According to the Texas Lottery, the Quick Pick matched the numbers 21-28-33-34-43-44 in the April 20 drawing and was sold at 7‑Eleven Convenience Store #36375A at 3700 Interstate Highway 30 in Mesquite. The agency lists the prize as an estimated $41 million, notes that the ticket shows the CVO (Cash Value Option) and pegs the approximate cash value at $22.5 million before taxes. The site also reminds players that tickets must be claimed within 180 days of the draw and that a ticket is not considered a valid winner until it is physically presented and validated.
In a statement to News4SanAntonio, Courtney Arbour, executive director of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, said, "Monday was an unforgettable night for one Lotto Texas player." The outlet reported that the jackpot had rolled through 66 drawings before finally getting hit, and that more than 39,000 lower-tier tickets also won prizes in the drawing, with amounts ranging from $2 to $12,834.
Retailer bonus for the seller
Under the Texas Lottery's retailer bonus program, the store that sells a jackpot-winning Lotto Texas ticket may be eligible for a $25,000 bonus, according to the agency's retailer-bonus chart. If more than one retailer sells jackpot-winning tickets, that bonus is split equally. The chart also notes that all such bonus payments are subject to the program's fiscal year budget limits.
How to check and claim
Players are advised to sign any winning ticket immediately, keep it in a safe place and use a retailer's Check‑a‑Ticket machine, the Texas Lottery app or the lottery website to confirm results. If you believe you are holding the jackpot winner, keep the original ticket secure and contact the Texas Lottery to schedule a claim appointment. The physical ticket must be presented for validation before any payment is made.
For now, that Mesquite 7‑Eleven has turned into a local curiosity, with one mystery player suddenly worth tens of millions on paper and the rest of North Texas double-checking jacket pockets, glove compartments and kitchen junk drawers. Anyone who played Lotto Texas for the April 20 drawing is being urged to take another look at their tickets and follow the Texas Lottery's claim instructions if they have a match.
