Two men were wounded in a midday shooting Thursday in south Tacoma, triggering a heavy police response to the 7200 block of Park Avenue South. Officers arrived to find both victims suffering from gunshot wounds, and the men were taken to a hospital while detectives cordoned off part of the block to process the scene.
Tacoma police said they were called to the area at about 12:30 p.m. and found the two men with gunshot injuries. Officers remained at the scene into the early afternoon to investigate what led up to the shooting, according to KING 5, which also reported it had a crew heading to the scene.
How this fits into recent incidents
The midday shooting is the latest firearm incident to rattle Tacoma this spring. Local coverage has documented several recent shootings, including a late-night April incident that left a toddler injured, as reported in coverage of a toddler injured in late-night gunfire.
Investigation ongoing
Police had not released suspect descriptions or the victims’ conditions as of early afternoon, and detectives continued processing the scene, KING 5 reported. Authorities did not immediately provide further details.
