
An early-morning shooting outside a Sacramento apartment complex has turned into a homicide investigation after a man was found dead from a gunshot wound near the 4600 block of Ashdale Court on Saturday.
According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched shortly after midnight when a caller reported hearing gunfire and seeing a man lying outside an apartment. Responding deputies and firefighters tried life-saving measures at the scene, but the man was pronounced dead, authorities said.
Deputies found the victim with at least one gunshot wound, according to KCRA 3. Sacramento Metro Fire personnel responded and confirmed that the man had died at the scene, the outlet reported.
Homicide detectives and crime-scene investigators with the sheriff's office remained at the apartment complex as they worked to document evidence and piece together what happened. As of now, officials have not released the victim's identity, any information about a suspect, or a possible motive.
