Highway Enforcement Unit Leads Probe
The Cedar Park Police Department's Highway Enforcement Unit, the city’s specialized traffic team that handles serious crashes and traffic enforcement, is in charge of the investigation, officials said. The unit often reconstructs crash scenes and coordinates with partner agencies when needed. For contact information and background on the unit, see the Cedar Park Police Department operations page.
Intersection’s Safety Record
Whitestone Boulevard and Lakeline Drive sit along a corridor that has drawn concern in past years for crash patterns and congestion. A Community Impact review previously highlighted parts of Whitestone as trouble spots, prompting work that included repaving and adding turn lanes. Local officials have said those changes were intended to cut down on T-bone and rear-end collisions at busy signalized intersections.
How To Report What You Saw
Anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam video is asked to contact the Cedar Park Police Department’s non-emergency line at 512-260-4600 or submit a tip through the department’s Tip411 system, according to city police pages. Investigators had still not released the victim’s name as of Friday morning, CBS Austin reported. Police are expected to provide additional information once the next of kin have been notified and preliminary findings are in.
