A 25-year-old Nashville woman was hauled into custody late Tuesday after a fast-moving pursuit and brief standoff in Mt. Juliet, police said. Officers used spike strips to disable a stolen 2025 Nissan Kicks. The driver eventually surrendered, and a dog left inside the SUV was found unharmed.
According to WSMV, the city’s license-plate reader system tagged the Nissan as stolen after it rolled in from Nashville on West Division Street. Officers then tracked the vehicle to Division Street near Greenhill Road, where a brief pursuit began. Police say the Kicks had been reported stolen on March 20 after the owner left the keys inside.

How officers stopped the car
Per a post by Mt. Juliet Police, officers coordinated along East Division Street near Golden Bear Gateway and deployed spike strips twice to hit the fleeing Nissan. The damaged vehicle finally came to a stop. The driver initially refused to get out, but after a short standoff, surrendered and was taken into custody, according to the department.
What officers recovered and suspect status
Inside the SUV, officers found fentanyl, methamphetamine, heroin, and a firearm, and the stolen Nissan was recovered; the dog left in the vehicle was not hurt, WSMV reported. Police identified the woman as a convicted felon who was already wanted in Davidson and Rutherford counties for violating probation. She remained in custody while officers processed the scene.
Why Mt. Juliet leans on license-plate readers
The Mt. Juliet Police Department says its #MJGuardianShield license-plate reader network helps officers quickly spot stolen or wanted vehicles as they enter the city and has led to multiple recoveries in recent years, according to the Mt. Juliet Police Newsroom. MJPD combines those real-time alerts with targeted officer deployments, spike-strip systems, and interagency coordination to bring pursuits to a safe end before suspects reach residential neighborhoods.
What’s next
The investigation remains active, and authorities have not yet released additional charging information. Police said the rescued dog was unharmed and is currently in the department’s care.
