
Houston police spent Thursday morning working a grim scene along Chimney Rock Road after a body was discovered near the intersection with Gasmer Drive in southwest Houston. Part of the roadway near Chimney Rock Park was blocked off as investigators processed the area. Authorities have not yet identified the victim or released a cause of death.

Officials confirmed that a body was found on Chimney Rock Road near Gasmer Drive, according to FOX 26 Houston. The station reports that the Houston Police Department is handling the investigation and that no additional details have been made public so far.

The discovery was made next to Chimney Rock Park, which is listed at 11655 Chimney Rock Road, according to MapQuest. The park and surrounding streets sit in the southwest Houston corridor, not far from the Southwest Freeway and local community facilities.
