
A tense scene unfolded yesterday in West Berkeley when a naked man carrying a shotgun walked into a Tesla service center and allegedly charged at a police officer, according to authorities. Officers say they wrestled the man to the ground after a brief struggle, restrained him and took him into custody. No injuries were reported, and Berkeley police say the suspect now faces multiple firearm-related charges.
Berkeley Police identified the man as 35-year-old Edward Teece. Investigators say officers tackled Teece after he charged at an officer, with several officers stepping in to help handcuff him. Police later obtained a gun violence restraining order and executed a search warrant at Teece’s property, where they seized a shotgun. Investigators also reported finding evidence that the weapon had been fired inside a warehouse on the 1300 block of Eighth Street, as reported by KRON4.

The incident took place at Tesla’s West Berkeley service center at 901 Gilman Street. The facility sits in an industrial stretch near Gilman and Eighth and has been serving Bay Area Tesla owners for several years, according to Tesla.

Berkeley police say Teece is facing charges that include assault with a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm in public and willfully discharging a firearm in a negligent manner. The case remains under active investigation, and detectives are still processing evidence collected during the search.
