The Dispatch, a newspaper-themed café from The Newstand co-owners Page Pressley and Dez Rodriguez, is set to open April 14 in the lobby of McCombs Plaza in Midtown San Antonio. At roughly 850 square feet, the new spot marks the brand’s first expansion beyond its Jefferson Bank Building location and will focus on seasonal single-origin coffees, matcha drinks, fresh juices, pastries and light lunches tailored to early-morning and midday crowds as well as nearby museum visitors.
According to San Antonio Business Journal, The Dispatch will debut on April 14 and will occupy about 850 square feet inside the McCombs Plaza lobby. Axios San Antonio reports the café will operate Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
What to Expect at The Dispatch
The menu leans into bright, seasonal drinks and small plates, with items like a “Just Peachy” matcha made with Texas peaches and a “Texas Sun” juice, along with banana matcha muffins and Basque cheesecake, according to MySA. The owners say the café will rotate specialty single-origin beans and keep a focused lineup of toasts and salads built on The Newstand’s house-baked breads.
A Lobby Café for Midtown
Design renderings show earthy tones, green-marble counters and terracotta tile that help the café blend into McCombs Plaza’s atrium while still carving out seating that extends into the lobby, CultureMap reports. Just off U.S. 281 and a short walk from Brackenridge Park, the Witte Museum and the San Antonio Zoo, the location positions The Dispatch as a quick stop for workers, students and museum visitors alike.
From The Newstand to The Dispatch

The Dispatch will be located at 755 E. Mulberry Ave inside McCombs Plaza and is expected to follow the Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. schedule reported by Axios San Antonio. The McCombs Plaza address is listed publicly by property managers and brokers, including JLL.
