A late-night blaze ripped through a two-story house on Botanical Court in the Bunnlevel area of Lillington on Wednesday, leaving the home a total loss and sending several residents to nearby hospitals. Neighbors' cell phone video captured heavy flames and thick smoke as multiple departments worked to knock down the fire. Local officials say an investigation is underway in Harnett County.
At least six people were hurt in the blaze, and officials have not released their conditions, according to WTVD. The station reported that its footage from the scene shows extensive damage to the two-story home and that fire crews were still at work when reporters arrived.
WRAL reported that seven people were taken to hospitals after the blaze and quoted Lillington Volunteer Fire Department Chief Andrew Milton saying the "fire had completely taken the house" by the time crews arrived. Milton told WRAL that three other departments assisted at the scene, that crews believe the call came in around 9 p.m., and that firefighters brought the flames under control in roughly 20 minutes. WRAL also noted that a neighbor shared video of the fire with the station and that the family had recently moved into the home.
