Tuesday night turned violent on the 1200 block of North 27th Street in North Philadelphia, where a man was repeatedly stabbed and rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Responding officers found him with multiple wounds on the sidewalk and quickly got him to emergency care, police said. One person was taken into custody at the scene.
What happened
Officers were called to the block around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, according to NBC10 Philadelphia. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from several stab wounds and immediately transported him to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The Philadelphia Police Department's Central Division is leading the investigation, per NBC10 Philadelphia. Authorities have not released the victim's name.
Police seek witnesses and tips
Detectives are still trying to sort out what led to the violence, and the motive remains unclear. Investigators are asking anyone who saw or heard anything to come forward.

Tips can be submitted anonymously. If a crime is in progress, police stress that residents should call 911.
