A 26-year-old man was shot early Monday near the busy intersection of Lankershim Boulevard and Victory Boulevard in North Hollywood and later died at a local hospital, authorities said.
According to CBS Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Police Department said the gunfire broke out at around 5:20 a.m. Two suspects took off from the scene in a white car heading south on Lankershim Boulevard. Investigators have not yet determined what led up to the shooting.
Where it happened and past incidents
The intersection of Lankershim and Victory has seen more than its share of violence in recent years. In 2019, the Los Angeles Times reported that two people were shot near the same crossroads, with suspects last seen running south on Lankershim, a pattern that has kept safety concerns front and center for nearby residents and businesses.
Recent arrests on Lankershim
Less than a year ago, CBS Los Angeles reported that three suspects were arrested in connection with a deadly October 2025 shooting on the 7300 block of Lankershim Boulevard. At the time, detectives said they had identified suspects and were canvassing the area for surveillance footage and witnesses.
