A 39-year-old woman was hit and killed early Thursday on 27th Street East near 7th Avenue East in Bradenton, according to police. The vehicle involved was heading south, and investigators say the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers. A stretch of 27th Street East south of State Road 64 (Manatee Avenue) was shut down for several hours while police worked the crash, then reopened before daybreak.

According to a Facebook post from the Bradenton Police Department, a southbound vehicle struck the 39-year-old woman at 27th Street East and 7th Avenue East. She later died from her injuries, the department reported. Officers said the driver remained on-site and spoke with investigators while they closed 27th Street East south of State Road 64 (Manatee Avenue) for the crash investigation, and later confirmed the roadway had been reopened.

Bradenton police say the case remains under investigation and that officers processed the scene in the early morning hours Thursday. The victim's name has not yet been released, and officials say additional information will be shared when it becomes available.
