
An early-morning house fire in Streamwood left one person dead and two others injured Thursday, including a firefighter with minor injuries. Crews rushed to the 100-block of Southwood Circle before dawn and met heavy flames and thick smoke pouring from both levels of a two-story home. According to ABC7 Chicago, firefighters responded at about 4:48 a.m. to the 100-block of Southwood Circle and found intense fire and smoke coming from the first and second floors. Two people were located inside; one was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was taken to a hospital. The Streamwood Fire Department reported that a firefighter suffered minor injuries while battling the blaze and that the home sustained significant damage.

Streamwood has seen deadly house fires before. An August 2025 blaze in the village killed two people and drew state fire marshals to the scene, as reported at the time by the Chicago Sun-Times.
