An early evening outing at Pulaski Park on Milwaukee’s south side turned violent Wednesday when three people, including two teenagers, were stabbed, sending all three to local hospitals and leaving one man in custody. Responding deputies described a chaotic scene, with multiple victims bleeding and bystanders trying to make sense of what had just unfolded. Authorities later said they recovered knives and what they called makeshift tinfoil devices at the park.
Deputies Outline Injuries And Rapid Response
Milwaukee County deputies say they were called to Pulaski Park around 6:05 p.m. and arrived to find a 13-year-old boy suffering from stab wounds to the back of his neck and shoulder, along with a 19-year-old who had been stabbed in his right arm. Nearby, a 21-year-old man was detained after allegedly running from the area with an apparent stab wound to his leg and a skull fracture. Deputies say they applied a tourniquet to the man’s leg before he was taken to the hospital.
According to reporting by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, deputies reported finding a Leatherman-style multitool and a makeshift tinfoil explosive on the detained man. A second knife and another tinfoil device were later recovered elsewhere in the park, adding to the list of evidence investigators are now sifting through.
Pulaski Park’s Role In The Neighborhood
Pulaski Park is a staple of Milwaukee’s south side, a neighborhood recreation spot that hosts county programming and youth activities throughout the year. It is also a regular site for Camp Rise events that bring officers and kids together for games and outreach, making it a place residents typically associate with summer fun and community building, not crime scenes.
That backdrop made Wednesday’s stabbings especially unnerving for neighbors who rely on the green space for sports, family gatherings, and youth programming, as highlighted in earlier coverage from TMJ4.
Investigation Ongoing As Deputies Sort Conflicting Stories
Deputies say the 21-year-old man was taken into custody and transported to a hospital under guard on pending charges of recklessly endangering safety. Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has video or other evidence to contact the sheriff’s office, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Authorities have not released the names of the victims and say the investigation remains active as they work through conflicting accounts about what led up to the stabbings. For now, residents are left with an unsettling reality: violence erupted in one of the very parks meant to keep local kids busy and out of harm’s way.
