Early Monday in Brookfield, a late-night stop for chicken turned into a crime scene when two armed suspects robbed a person at gunpoint outside the Raising Cane's on West Capitol Drive, then took off in the victim's car.

Police said the holdup happened around 2:45 a.m. in the parking lot. One of the suspects pointed a rifle at the victim, but no shots were fired and no one was injured during the confrontation.

Police: Armed pair approaches, then takes off in stolen car

Brookfield police told FOX6 News that two people approached the victim just west of 124th and Capitol Drive before demanding the vehicle. After one suspect aimed the rifle, the pair took the car and fled the area. Officers said no suspects are in custody at this time.

Investigators want tips, video from the area

Anyone with information about the robbery is urged to contact Brookfield police at 262-787-3702, according to the City of Brookfield Police Department. Investigators say tips, photos or dash-cam footage from around the time of the incident could help them identify the vehicle and suspects.

Same Raising Cane's has seen serious trouble before

This is not the first time that particular Raising Cane's location has drawn a heavy police response. In January 2025, officers boxed in a stolen vehicle in the drive-thru and recovered an AK-47-style rifle and narcotics, WISN reported. That case led to multiple arrests and highlighted a pattern of incidents involving vehicles and weapons in the same shopping area.

Ongoing case and safety reminder

Officials told FOX6 News that detectives are actively working the case and following leads, but have not yet made any arrests. Police are reminding residents and customers to pass along any footage or observations directly to authorities rather than attempting to confront anyone they believe might be involved.
