An 18-year-old Southern Huntingdon County High School senior was killed Friday evening in a motorcycle crash on State Route 22 near Oriskany Road in Brady Township. Officials identified the student as Conner B. Robinson. He was thrown from the bike and later died of his injuries after the motorcycle struck a tree, and the Southern Huntingdon County School District notified families over the weekend.
What police say
According to CBS Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania State Police said Robinson was speeding and failed to make a curve before the crash. Troopers reported that he was riding a Yamaha R6 and that the crash happened around 6:30 p.m. on Friday on State Route 22 near Oriskany Road in Brady Township. State police said the motorcycle left the roadway and struck a tree, and investigators are continuing their review of the scene.
School district mobilizes counselors
The Southern Huntingdon County School District sent a message to families announcing Robinson's death and saying that counselors and the district's Crisis Response Team would be available at school on Monday, as reported by WTAJ. The district urged families who feel their child may need additional support to contact Huntingdon County Crisis Intervention Services. That county resource is available 24/7 at 1-800-929-9583, the district noted in its communication.
Motorcycle fatalities in Pennsylvania
PennDOT's most recent Crash Facts and Statistics shows that motorcyclist fatalities remain a significant portion of traffic deaths in the state, recording 238 motorcyclist fatalities in 2023 and 219 in 2024, according to PennDOT. The agency's report highlights speed and roadway geometry as common factors in single-vehicle motorcycle crashes. Those statewide figures underscore how quickly a single error or a particular section of road can turn deadly for riders.
Community reaction
In a letter to families, the district wrote, "Please keep Conner's family and friends in your thoughts during this incredibly difficult time," as reported by CBS Pittsburgh. Local classmates and residents are turning to school-provided supports as the community mourns. Pennsylvania State Police continue to investigate the crash and have not released additional details.
