A routine North Patrol traffic stop in Sacramento on Saturday turned into anything but routine, as deputies say they uncovered a large cache of firearms, cash and suspected drugs. According to the sheriff's office, the vehicle initially delayed pulling over and finally stopped inside an apartment complex, where the driver allegedly tried to run but was detained. Deputies later searched the car and served a search warrant at the driver's home, turning up rifles, multiple handguns, a substantial amount of cash and suspected narcotics. The sheriff's office laid out the details in a post on its official X account.
Deputies Say Stop Led to Loaded Gun and Drugs
According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, deputies found multiple loaded magazines and a loaded handgun during the initial vehicle search. The post states that as officers detained the driver, he allegedly tossed his keys to a companion. Deputies say they also removed a large quantity of marijuana products from the car, which prompted them to later seek a search warrant for the driver's residence. The X post notes that the driver was detained at the scene.

Search Warrant Turns Up Rifles, Stolen Guns and Cash
Per the sheriff's X post, the search warrant at the driver's home yielded a short-barreled rifle, two additional rifles, seven more handguns and more than $24,000 in cash. The post states that two of the pistols were reported stolen and that two handguns were equipped with full-auto conversion switches. Deputies also reported finding vape pens, wax cartridges, psilocybin mushrooms and additional marijuana products inside the residence.
Case Heads Toward Possible Charges
The sheriff's office did not list specific criminal charges in its post and said detectives are continuing to investigate. The case may be forwarded to the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office for possible prosecution.
