Two people were wounded in a road-rage shooting Monday night near Pearsall Park on San Antonio’s Southwest Side, including a pregnant woman, according to police. Both were taken to a hospital and are expected to recover. Officers detained three people at the scene while investigators worked to figure out what led to the confrontation and the gunfire.
Police Say Shots Came From Large SUV
San Antonio police told KENS5 that officers were called around 9:30 p.m. Monday to the 5500 block of Little Creek Drive, near Old Pearsall Road. Investigators believe someone in a large SUV fired a shot into a small sedan during a road-rage encounter near Pearsall Park. Multiple units responded as officers tried to sort out accounts from drivers and witnesses at the scene.
Victims Hospitalized, Listed As Stable
According to KSAT, the victims were an 18-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman who officers said was about six to seven months pregnant. The woman was hospitalized as a precaution, and both were described as stable by responding crews. Authorities have not released the victims’ names or additional medical information.
Birdshot And Broken Glass Blamed For Injuries
SAPD told KENS5 that investigators believe the injuries were caused by birdshot and shards of broken glass. Detectives searched the area for casings and canvassed nearby homes and businesses for video and witnesses to piece together the chain of events. Officials did not immediately say whether any weapons were recovered.
Three Detained As Detectives Probe Case
Police detained three people for questioning at or near the scene, KSAT reports, but no arrests or charges had been announced as of early Tuesday. Authorities asked anyone with information to contact the San Antonio Police Department’s investigative units. Additional details remained limited while detectives continued interviews and reviewed evidence.
