Central Texas just got a little more foot-friendly. Birkenstock is rolling its famous sandals and cork-footbed clogs into San Marcos Premium Outlets, bringing the brand’s first Texas outlet to one of the state’s busiest bargain hubs.
The mall’s online directory lists the store as “coming soon,” per San Marcos Premium Outlets. An April opening was previously flagged by CultureMap San Antonio, while state permitting records from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation show a tenant build-out of roughly 2,450 square feet, with an estimated $50,000 renovation and a projected completion date of May 1.
What Shoppers Will Find
Once the doors open, shoppers can expect the greatest hits: familiar two-strap sandals and cork-footbed clogs, along with sneakers, boots and seasonal styles for men, women and kids. The brand’s official site lays out its heritage lineup and growing range of fashion collaborations, according to Birkenstock.
As with most outlets, the assortment is likely to lean on past-season colors and select markdowns, which should appeal to locals, college students, and road-trippers looking to upgrade their footwear without blowing the vacation budget.
San Marcos Premium Outlets Keeps Adding Brands
The Birkenstock arrival is the latest in a series of moves designed to keep the center buzzing between Austin and San Antonio. CultureMap San Antonio reported that the mall recently celebrated the opening of a Cuadra outlet, billed as that brand’s first in the United States, and the center’s directory now lists Sephora among the other “coming soon” tenants.
If construction and permitting stay on track, the May 1 completion date listed in the filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation points to a late-spring opening, with inventory likely following shortly after. For Central Texas shoppers, that means one more reason to make the drive to San Marcos, and one less reason to travel out of the region for a fresh pair of Birks.
