A former Sanford school resource officer who was hauled into custody in January is now staring down a fresh set of accusations, with investigators saying he targeted a second Seminole High School student. Police allege the encounters involved explicit photos, an unwanted grab in an elevator, and efforts to sneak his personal phone number into the teenager’s contacts. The former officer, identified as 36-year-old Pedro Enrique Da Silva, was already facing charges tied to a separate 17-year-old, and a court first appearance was set for Thursday afternoon.
What investigators allege
An affidavit outlined by ClickOrlando states that the second student reported being summoned to Da Silva’s office shortly before winter break 2025. She told investigators he asked her age and birthday, offered to buy alcohol so they could “get drunk” together, tried to plug his personal number into her phone, and attempted to scroll through her photos. According to the affidavit, the student also said he stood behind her in an elevator, told her he “wanted to touch her,” grabbed her from behind and on two separate occasions showed her nude images of himself.
How this ties back to the January arrest
Da Silva was first arrested on Jan. 14 on counts that included written solicitation of a minor, a sex offense by an authority figure, and showing obscene material to a minor, WFTV reported. That outlet says the investigation started after Sanford police were alerted on Dec. 17, 2025, to inappropriate communications involving a 17-year-old and notes that surveillance video factored into that earlier probe. According to WFTV, Da Silva had been with the Sanford Police Department since June 2024 and served as Seminole High’s resource officer from late July until his employment ended in mid-December.
Charges and next steps
On April 23, prosecutors filed additional counts tied to the second student’s claims, including sexual offense by an authority figure and showing obscene material to a minor, ClickOrlando reports. Da Silva, 36, now faces these new allegations on top of the January case and was scheduled for a first appearance at 2 p.m. Thursday, according to the report. He is presumed innocent unless and until prosecutors secure formal charges that lead to a conviction in court.
School, police and community
Sanford police are asking anyone with information to reach out to the department. The city’s police page lists the non-emergency line as 407-688-5070 and provides the department’s location on the municipal website. Seminole High School, part of Seminole County Public Schools, is listed at 2701 Ridgewood Ave in Sanford on the school’s site. Investigators say community tips could be key as they continue reviewing the affidavit and available surveillance material.
