A man was left with life-threatening injuries late Saturday after gunfire erupted outside the Walnut Trace apartments in southeast Raleigh. Officers arrived quickly, found the wounded man, and rushed him to a nearby hospital. Police say a suspect was taken into custody and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
According to CBS17, the shooting was reported just after 8 p.m. at the Walnut Trace complex. Investigators located the victim outside the building, and he was transported with life-threatening injuries. Authorities have not yet released the man’s name.

Raleigh police say officers detained a potential suspect at the scene while detectives worked to figure out what led up to the shooting and whether the victim knew the shooter.
