A routine stop at a QuikTrip in Scottsdale just turned into a five-figure payday for one lucky Mega Millions player. The convenience store at the northwest corner of Pima and McDowell roads sold a ticket worth $20,000 in Friday's drawing, after the play matched four of the five white balls plus the Mega Ball and hit a 2X multiplier that doubled the usual $10,000 prize. It is one of several mid-tier lottery wins popping up around the Valley this spring.
Winning Numbers And Where The Ticket Came From
The winning numbers drawn Friday were 7, 16, 32, 35 and 40, with Mega Ball 12, according to the Arizona Lottery.
As first reported by KTAR News, the $20,000 ticket was sold at the QuikTrip on the northwest corner of Pima and McDowell. The ticket included a printed 2X multiplier, which took the standard $10,000 payout for that prize tier and bumped it to $20,000.
Odds, Payouts And The Next Shot At The Jackpot
Hitting four white balls plus the Mega Ball is no easy feat. The odds sit at roughly 1 in 893,000 and the prize normally lands at $10,000 before any multiplier, according to LottoExpert.
With no jackpot winner in the April 24 drawing, the next Mega Millions jackpot is estimated at about $163 million, according to Lottery Post. So the big prize is still very much in play.
How Long The Winner Has To Claim
The Arizona Lottery gives winners 180 days from the draw date to claim prizes, and its website lists claim procedures and office locations for prize payments. See the Arizona Lottery's winners page for details and steps to claim: Arizona Lottery.
If you picked up a Mega Millions ticket at the Pima and McDowell QuikTrip, it might be worth digging it out and double-checking the numbers. If your ticket matches, keep it safe and contact the Arizona Lottery to start the claim process.
