Friday, April 3, 2026 - Seattle woke up under a blanket of gray, with temperatures near 45°F and a light southerly breeze around 5 to 10 mph. The clouds are expected to linger through the morning, but sunbreaks should start showing up this afternoon, making it feel a lot less like a cold, pre-caffeinated slog by day’s end.
The day trends mostly cloudy to partly sunny, with a high near 57°F as a weak system clips the north coast. That brings a small chance of spotty light showers from Everett north to the outer coast. Downtown, the odds of measurable rain stay low, and winds remain light and mainly from the south, according to the National Weather Service.
Weekend Warm-Up
An upper-level ridge builds in tonight and holds through the weekend, clearing skies and nudging highs into the upper 50s and lower 60s. Expect around 60°F on Saturday and mid 60s on Sunday, with the warmest pocket possible Monday, as we noted earlier this week in a recent soaking-rain and gale outlook. The warmest readings should show up south of the Sound and across interior neighborhoods.
Frost, Commute And Marine Notes
A Frost Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM PDT for parts of Thurston and Lewis counties, the middle Chehalis River valley, Olympia and southern Puget Sound, so gardeners in low-lying areas will want to keep tender plants covered, per the National Weather Service. At Sea-Tac, aviation conditions should stay mostly VFR, although a brief dip to MVFR is possible for a few terminals mid-morning as low clouds shuffle through. Southerly surface winds around 5 to 10 kt ease and turn northerly by Friday evening. On the water, seas are backing down into the 4 to 7 ft range through the weekend, but another uptick in seas and stronger winds is likely early next week as a frontal system brushes by to the north.
What To Bring
Plan on a light jacket or extra layer for the chilly morning, then something you can shed once the afternoon sun breaks through. Gardeners should keep sensitive seedlings covered through Saturday morning. Anyone flying or heading out on the water early next week should check updated aviation and marine forecasts - the weekend looks pleasant, but conditions may turn choppier by Tuesday.
