The Lox Bagel Shop, a Short North favorite, is gearing up for a second Columbus-area location near Polaris, with paperwork pointing to a new storefront at 2140 Ikea Way. The shop is slated to land inside the Galaxy at Polaris mixed-use development, tucked next to Ikea and Topgolf.
According to NBC4, The Lox has filed permits for a storefront inside the Galaxy at Polaris project, and the company has not yet announced an opening date.
From Short North To Polaris
The original Lox shop at 772 N. High St. in the Short North has built a loyal following with a tight menu of hand-rolled, boiled and baked bagels and made-to-order sandwiches. The shop’s website highlights signatures like The Lox, a bagel sandwich stacked with capers, onion, cucumber and cream cheese, plus a vegan "lox" made from nori-cured carrots, per The Lox Bagel Shop.
That stripped-down, bagels-first approach has pulled in national attention. Bon Appétit included The Lox in a roundup of the best bagels in the United States, putting the Short North operation on the map for carb fans well beyond Columbus.
Galaxy At Polaris Is Building Foot Traffic
The new location would plug into a growing hub. The Galaxy at Polaris wrapped a $145 million first phase late last year that includes a six-story, 289-unit apartment building, a roughly 700-space parking garage and more than 37,000 square feet of commercial space, according to POLARIS.
Columbus Underground reports that future phases of the project are expected to add more restaurants and entertainment between the apartments and Ikea Way, positioning The Lox to catch both residents and visitors once buildout continues.
When To Expect It
So far, there is no official opening date for the Polaris-area shop. The permit filing suggests The Lox will move in as Galaxy at Polaris fills out its ground-floor retail spaces.

For Polaris shoppers and nearby residents, The Lox’s arrival would add a nationally recognized, high-turnover breakfast option to an expanding retail cluster.
